Music for my insomnia

http://joej.deviantart.com

Only seven more days until I jet off to the Philippines for Christmas. I can't wait.
Only three more days until I go and watch Twilight.
Three days til school ends.

I just watched The Edge of Love. It's a movie about Dylan Thomas, the famous welsh poet, set  in WWII. It's got Keira Knightley (his childhood sweetheart and soulmate, also his lover), Sienna Miller (wife, mother of his child), Cillian Murphy (love of Keira's life, husband, father of her child) and Matthew Rhys as Dylan Thomas.
The whole movie made me quite sad. The portrayal of his relationship with his wife (Sienna's character) and his childhood sweetheart (Keira's character) was all so tragic. And then add in Cillian Murphy's character, with his nightmares and hallucinations after serving in Thessaly...

The force that through the green fuse drives the flower
Drives my green age; that blasts the roots of trees
Is my destroyer.
And I am dumb to tell the crooked rose
My youth is bent by the same wintry fever.

The force that drives the water through the rocks
Drives my red blood; that dries the mouthing streams
Turns mine to wax.
And I am dumb to mouth unto my veins
How at the mountain spring the same mouth sucks.

The hand that whirls the water in the pool
Stirs the quicksand; that ropes the blowing wind
Hauls my shroud sail.
And I am dumb to tell the hanging man
How of my clay is made the hangman's lime.

The lips of time leech to the fountain head;
Love drips and gathers, but the fallen blood
Shall calm her sores.
And I am dumb to tell a weather's wind
How time has ticked a heaven round the stars.

And I am dumb to tell the lover's tomb
How at my sheet goes the same crooked worm.

-Dylan Thomas

O to the BAMA

[(c) Lan Cao http://JoeJ.deviantart.com]

I've decided to take this blog more seriously--that is, update more, try to write creatively more. I figure that it'll help me de-stress in the midst of IB.

There's a photo up there ^^ and why? because it's beautiful. It's a dirty, hazardous construction site in Phu My Hung, but the colours, the light...my friend Lan took this photo and I don't know why, but he can make anything look beautiful. I've decided I might pick out some of his photos and use them as inspiration for a poem.

Anyway, in reference to the title of this post, I thought it was time I aired my political views. I'm a democrat, and if I could vote, I would vote for Obama. I DO think McCain would make a good president (though he wouldn't affect change in the way Obama can) but the fact that he's old and the his VP is SARAH PALIN is worrying. If the man croaks, we've got Miss freakin Maverick sitting in the oval office.
In fact, here is a HILARIOUS webdoohickey which imagines what Palin would be like in the Oval office: http://www.palinaspresident.us/

I've been crazy downloading music for the past few days (and putting off my homework in the process). Some are old, some new, but I can't get them out of my head lately.
